Prof. William Ross, considered the leading academic authority in the U.S. on attorney fee billing issues, calls research “one of the most egregious forms of overbilling in many law firms.” See William G. Ross, The Honest Hour, (Carolina Academic Press) at p. 113. Thus it is that any time billed for research should raise a red flag.
